We are not good at planning ahead. When Isaac got an invite to a friend's house on Sunday, we suggested he come here -- and then we picked up a couple of more boys and spent the day at the river. They got out about 5 shivering and we cooked hotdogs and s'mores -- and then . . . they all decided to go get back into their swimsuits and they swam til after 8. There's something about having a boat to conquer that can occupy these boys for hours. We got the rope swing shortened, too (since the river is so high), and Isaac got his first black eye when it hit him during the skirmish. No problem, though, he told the friend. It's fine! And it was a fine day. One boy stayed the night & everyone was asleep before 1am! That's what we call responsible sleeping nowadays.

Catching up with the blogs I like to visit, and I have to ask: how did you get the painterly effect on the photo in your Into the Woods post? It's a great effect!
