Hillary rocked it yesterday --- and Victoria has worked her heart out for Hillary in Durham for the last several months. And here's Victoria on election day . . . with her car all packed up and ready because after she puts in yet another long long long day today . . . she's driving out to Dartmouth and starting classes in the morning. I keep imagining how it must feel to pour yourself into a pursuit so non-stop and then BOOM with no time to transition just move on.
You're incredible, Victoria :) Thanks so much for all you've done.
For my part, I spent Monday canvassing -- alone for a while and then with Elaine and a woman named Christine who I really enjoyed tromping around with. Went home frazzled and depressed. Victoria called later and told me how much fun election day would be and got me slated for literature drops in the morning. So Tuesday started with door hangers in my own neighborhood, Bennett Rd, Cutts, Ffrost, SandyBrook . . . and then to the office where Victoria hooked me up with an optimistic Julia (I needed optimistic :) ) for canvassing in neighborhoods off Piscataqua. Once Isaac got home, he and I did a stint of sign-holding at the polls with Sara and her girls (and John in the backpack :) ) . . . . and then . . . Sara and I had some wine and settled in to watch the returns . . . . who knew we'd be cheering? Seriously!!!! Had to get the boys out of bed to watch the results, too, since they've certainly put in time at the campaign offices. After Sara left we went to bed waiting for and then hooting through Hillary's speech.
Congratulations on all your hard work! I was so excited to see the results. When they mentioned the polls favoring Obama over the last few days, I kept thinking about your blog post that mentioned your canvassing and people switching to Hillary.
